Frank Thomas House 4x8 Tile in Golden

Frank Lloyd Wright was commissioned by Frank Thomas in 1901 to build his first Prairie style house in Oak Park, Illinois. It contains some of his most intricate art glass designs. The pattern of this decorative tile is adapted from Wright’s design for the art glass panels and doors in the small, jewel-like entry vestibule of the house. This space is made up of seven doors which form three of the vestibule’s four walls. Art glass skylight panels provide yet more daylight from overhead.Actual tile size: 3-13/16 x 7-13/16Motawi polychrome tiles are striking individual art pieces as much as functional tile installation accents. We’re told that our tiles will give you serious cred in gift-giving circles. And each one is made by hand and with heart in Ann Arbor, Michigan. We embrace variation and handmade beauty. The bold heft of each Motawi tile reveals serious craftsmanship. And our time-honored hand-glazing methods produce a nuanced range of color with depth and translucence.
