Recycled Silk Kantha Scarf

Sevya’s Kantha Recycled Silk Scarf is handmade by women artisans in India using 100% silk recycled saris. Two different silk saris are used for each piece, and the saris are hand-stitched together using the traditional Kantha embroidery technique in distinctive, artistic patterns. Each piece is unique, and features handmade tassels with buttons at each end, with different prints and colors on each side. It can be used as a scarf, wrap or a table runner. Dimensions: 18" x 78". The color combination is always different, and they come to us in an assortment. One will be chosen at random at the time of your order, or if you'd like to know current color selection, contact us at 16 Hands. We can describe what's available, or send you a photo.

Made in India

"Sevya" is a Sanskrit word that means "caring through service"; caring for humanity and for the environment we live in. Sevya is dedicated to preserving the indigenous art forms and cultures of India by supporting the artisan communities who uphold these traditions. They work directly with artisan communities throughout India to develop contemporary styles of apparel & accessories that showcase their traditional and eco-friendly methods of handcraft--including hand-loom, block-printing, tie-dye, and embroidery. Our collection of fair trade scarves, shawls, apparel, and jewelry are made with the finest natural materials using traditional craft techniques, which are passed down from generation to generation. By providing a sustainable livelihood to these artisan communities, we help to ensure that these artisans, and their craft traditions, can continue to flourish. Sevya is a member of the Fair Trade Federation.
