Michigan Charm Necklace
"Flaunt your Michigan pride or relive your time "Up North" with this fun charm necklace. It features three charms; a cut-out of the upper peninsula, a cut-out of the lower peninsula, and a string of Leland Blue beads. The Michigan charms are made of sterling silver that has been textured and domed to catch the light. This whole necklace has wonderful movement. The charms swing freely so it never looks quite the same from one minute to the next. Leland blue is a glass-like byproduct of the iron industry in Northern Michigan. Well over 100 years ago this byproduct, called slag, was discarded in Lake Michigan. It has been washing up on shore ever since, especially near its namesake town of Leland, MI. Jewelers and rockhounds have been collecting and using this "stone" for years. The Michigan charms are about 5/8ths of an inch across and the bead charm is roughly an inch long. I designed and hand-made the original silver charms with their hammered texture then had multiples cast off that original. I hand select the Leland Blue beads. Leland Blue comes in a wide range of colors and textures, yours may look slightly different than the photograph, but they will be close. The third photograph shows a selection of Leland Blue charms so you can see the variety. This listing comes with ONLY ONE Leland Blue charm and the two silver peninsula charms and a chain.See my charms section if you are interested in purchasing these charms or other separately. Each pendant comes with a sterling silver double rope chain. Please specify 16, 18, or 20 inches long for the chain. If in doubt, 18 inch chains seem to work well for most people. See the 5th photo for an illustration of chain lengths. This necklace will come to you gift boxed, whether it is a gift for yourself or a loved one. Each piece that leaves my workshop is marked on the back with "IE" so you know it is an IndigoEdenArts original and ".925" which certifies that it is made of sterling silver". -Lorelei H.
