|We are thrilled to be open again. The Kerrytown shops are reawakening, and seeing customers stop in is feeding our souls! During the shutdown, we spent a lot of time cleaning and redoing our displays. Along with precautions for disinfecting we now have in place, the pandemic has made us rethink how we display the things we carry. We're making price tags more visible, and wherever possible creating displays that require less handling. At the same time, we're making sure that we, the staff, are even MORE accessible. |
As new work continues to come in, we are reminded that reopening only works as long as things go well. We will continue to do all we can to ensure the safety of both staff and visitors. And we need your help too. Please use our hand sanitizer when you enter the shop. Wear a mask, observe social distancing of 6 feet, ask us for gloves if you think you might not be able to overcome the urge to TOUCH. Believe us, we understand - this is a very tactile, fun, appealing shop. But can you imagine cleaning every piece, every day?
Another very important component of reopening is getting things moving again with orders from the artists and craftspeople we represent. They have all been affected by the pandemic too, many of them tragically. Most have been shut down for 3-5 months, are operating with only 0-2 team members and some will not be reopening at all - ever. This is heartbreaking, and demonstrates the fragility of small business which most of us at Kerrytown are acutely aware of now.
We have a much smaller team now as well (from 6.5 in Feb 2020 and 2.5 now). It will also affect how quickly we will be able to accomodate custom orders or repairs, so we ask for you to order early and please be patient.
If you haven't already, please sign up to get our emails. We don't send out a ton of them, and it is the best way for us to communicate with you. New items are being added all the time, so please check back. So heartfelt thanks from Jill, Rick, and Nate. We hope to see you soon.
